Comprising Gemini Pro, Gemini Deep Think, Gemini Flash, and Gemini Flash Lite, it was announced on December 6, 2023. It powers the Gemini chatbot, and was named after the Latin word for "twins" (symbolizing the merger of Google Brain and DeepMind) and NASA's Project Gemini.
